In an effort to have pizza night without having to run to the store for pizza sauce, allrecipes.com and a little experimenting have resulted in this recipe.
INGREDIENTS:
1 can tomato sauce (15oz)
1 can tomato paste (6oz)
1 Tablespoon oregano
2 teaspoons minced garlic
1 teaspoon paprika
1/2 teaspoon salt
DIRECTIONS:
Mix all ingredients together and spread on pizza crust. This will cover about two pizzas.
SPECIAL NOTE:
If I have labeled a recipe as GlutenFree
or Dairy Free but it appears to have those ingredients in it... that
means the recipe is still delicious with substitutes/replacements. Ex:
soy milk, lactose-free cheese, Bragg's liquid aminos (for soy sauce),
all-purpose gluten free flour (Better Batter is my favorite), etc.
Please check your individual ingredients to be sure they are GF or DF,
if that is what you need.

Chili Seasoning
COMMENTS:
Instead of buying seasoning packets with extra chemicals and preservatives... but mostly because I don't have them on hand...
INGREDIENTS:
1 Tablespoon chili powder
1 teaspoon cumin
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground pepper
DIRECTIONS:
Blend all spices together well to equal approximately one chili seasoning packet.
**approximately 2 Tablespoons of this mixture = one seasoning packet**

Taco Seasoning
COMMENTS:
I was out of taco seasoning and needed to make my own version. I found this recipe online somewhere and it worked well.
INGREDIENTS:
6 teaspoons chili powder
5 teaspoons paprika
4 1/2 teaspoons cumin
2 1/2 teaspoons onion powder
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
DIRECTIONS:
Combine all ingredients and store in air-tight container. NOTE: 7 teaspoons of this mix is the same amount as one store bought package of taco seasoning.

Jessica's BBQ Rub
A few years ago, Chris bought a dry BBQ rub at Corky's in Memphis. Everyone loves it, but we were running out. Through experimentation, Jessica came up with a reasonable subsitute. It is not quite as hot as Corky's but pretty good.
12 teaspoons Paprika
3 teaspoon Salt
1 1/2 teaspoon Garlic Powder
3/4 teaspoon Crushed Red Pepper
Fills one 2.5 oz. spice bottle.
